LEXINGTON, Ky. — The city of Lexington is expanding the hours for yard waste disposal at the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility. This temporary change will take effect from now until October 13, with operational hours set from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day.

Residents looking to dispose of yard waste must arrive by 5 p.m. and are required to present proof of residency within Fayette County. Acceptable forms of identification include a driver’s license that shows the resident’s local address.

According to a city release, residents who utilize the city’s waste service can take advantage of their gray waste carts and yard waste bags for disposing of tree limbs and leaves. Additionally, residents can stack limbs between the sidewalk and the curb, provided they are cut into sections no longer than 4 feet.

For homeowners without a sidewalk, debris should be placed near the curb at the edge of their yard. This material will be collected during the normal weekly waste service.

The extended hours are designed to assist residents during a peak period for yard waste, particularly as many are engaging in seasonal yard cleanup. After October 13, the Haley Pike facility will revert to its usual operating times.

Lexington officials encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity for efficient disposal of yard waste while following the guidelines provided.
