West Sixth Brewing Takes an Upward Leap in Covington

A Lexington-based craft brewery, West Sixth Brewing, has announced a major expansion with the planned opening of a new taproom and restaurant in Northern Kentucky’s bustling heart, Covington. The new establishment, to be named West Sixth Covington Haus, will occupy the former Flying Axes space located at 100 W. Sixth St., beneath the Second Story cocktail bar.

Announcement and Details

The brewery first broke the news about the expansion on its official website, where it outlined new plans for creating a significant foothold in the Cincinnati area. Not only will the new location house a taproom and restaurant but it also intends to create a welcoming communal atmosphere, blending craft beers, locally sourced food, and an engaging environment for lovers of local brews.

Design plans highlight a large, standout bar area, an expansive dining section, and an outdoor beer garden complete with lounge seating. The dining area will partner with local food vendors to provide a high-quality gastropub menu, underscoring the brewery’s commitment to highlighting local products and flavors.

Investing in Local Communities

West Sixth Brewing has a robust history of involvement in local communities where they operate. By expanding into Covington, not only does the brewery plan to introduce their acclaimed craft beers to a new market, but they also plan to follow their ethos of community advocacy and involvement in their newest location.

In line with their other establishments, the Covington Haus will take up various community support activities including the Craft Cares program (a philanthropic initiative which gives back to the community).

While a date has not yet been officially announced for the opening, enthusiasts of craft beer will be eagerly following West Sixth Brewing’s expansion, marking a significant step in the brewery’s regional growth.

Creating Local Jobs and Supporting the Economy

The brewery’s expansion into Northern Kentucky is not just good news for beer lovers, but it is also expected to provide a boost to the local economy. The new establishment will create several jobs, ranging from chefs, bartenders, and front-of-house staff to back-of-house roles.

Furthermore, the brewery’s commitment to source ingredients and collaborate with local food vendors for their gastropub menu promises to inject capital into the local food industry, thus encouraging economic development in the region.
