Lexington's Street Scene Offers Unique Vintage Shopping Experience This Holiday Season

Lexington is welcoming a unique shopping experience this holiday season at Street Scene, a vintage clothing and home goods store located at 2575 Regency Road. Co-owned by Madison Tyma and Jillian Wiseman, Street Scene aims to change perceptions about secondhand shopping during the festive season by offering a wide range of vintage gifts.

As the holiday shopping season gains momentum, Tyma and Wiseman have introduced a collection of holiday merchandise, including ornaments, cozy sweaters, and fun stocking stuffers. Emphasizing the quality of their offerings, Wiseman stated, “Don’t knock it till you try it. You can find better quality pieces than you’re going to find at your big box stores, because they’re made with real materials — your cotton, your wool, things like that — and they’re not all made in China.”

Street Scene specializes in sourcing vintage items from the 1950s to the 1990s, primarily from local consignors. The store’s mission is not only to offer unique gifts but also to give a new purpose to the items sold. “We both really care about the stories behind items and giving people an opportunity to find their items a new home,” Tyma shared, addressing the importance of sustainability in their operations.

With an eye-catching style described as “funky, girly and groovy,” Street Scene stands out as one of the first curated vintage stores in Lexington. As community support for small businesses increases, Tyma noted, “We have a lot of people coming out to support us as a small business, and we’re grateful for that.”

Looking ahead, Street Scene is gearing up for two significant events. On November 30, the store will participate in Small Business Saturday, featuring new merchandise, giveaways, and collaborations with local businesses. Notably, they have partnered with neighboring Coffee Times Coffee House for a special giveaway during this event. Additionally, their annual holiday open house will take place on December 14.

Tyma and Wiseman hope to create a memorable holiday shopping experience filled with community spirit. “People want to be in community together and want to celebrate. So, I think we’re really hopeful that we’ll have another great season,” Tyma expressed. The duo aims to have empty shelves come January, signifying a successful holiday shopping season.

The holiday season at Street Scene promises not only a variety of unique gifts but also an opportunity for mindful shopping that celebrates sustainability and community.
