Candidate B for Vice Provost at Forum

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 10, 2024)

In a continued quest for excellence and diversity, the University of Kentucky has been engaged in a nation-wide search for new vice provost candidates. The search has been extensive, and four outstanding finalists are now in focus. Notable among these candidates is the second candidate, known here as Candidate B.

Open forum series to commence Monday

As part of the selection process, each of the candidates will participate in open forums. The second, Candidate B, is slated to engage at 2 p.m. Monday, May 13 in the Britt Brockman Senate Chamber of the Gatton Student Center. These forums are accessible to members of the UK community, with a firm encouragement to both attend and provide feedback. Attendance in person is not the only option – individuals unable to be physically present can join the forum via Zoom.

Detailed candidate information released before each forum

Providing community members with the ability to deeply interact with the process, names and CVs of finalists will be released to the UK community 24 hours prior to their specific forums. These will be available on the search website.

Feedback: recording and confidential online surveys

Following each forum, a recording of the proceedings and an online survey about the respective candidate will feature on the search website for 48 hours. This provides members of the community with the opportunity to review the forum, assess strengths and areas for improvement for each candidate, and provide essential feedback for the selection process.

Supervisory facilitation and decision-making process

To maximize involvement, supervisors are encouraged to facilitate their team members’ participation in these forums as much as is feasible. The power to finalize the decision lies with UK Provost Robert S. DiPaola. His ruling will be influenced by feedback from both the search committee and the wider campus community.

University of Kentucky’s pursuit of excellence

As a premier land-grant state institution, the University of Kentucky is dedicated to advancing the Commonwealth through a host of endeavors focused on education, research, service, healthcare, and, importantly, preparing the leaders of tomorrow. With a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a globally reputable medical center, UK is viewed as a hub of progress and innovation. Its diversity and commitment to inclusive practices have earned it a place as one of Forbes’ 2022 ‘Best Employers for New Grads’ and a ‘Diversity Champion’ naming by INSIGHT Into Diversity. While different from its initial vision in 1865, the University’s commitment to serving the Commonwealth and the world remains steadfast. This vice provost search is an integral part of the University’s continued dedication to its mission.
