Lexington, Ky. – The Valley View Ferry will temporarily halt operations starting November 30 at 8 p.m. for mandatory inspections and repairs. This decision was confirmed by the Valley View Ferry Authority.
The ferry barge will be taken into a dry dock where it will undergo a thorough inspection by the U.S. Coast Guard. In addition to the inspection, the ferry will receive routine maintenance and necessary repairs during this period.
The ferry captain estimates that the barge will be in dry dock for a duration of one to two months. However, there is a possibility of a longer shutdown due to unforeseen repairs or adverse weather conditions.
For those interested in tracking the progress of the repairs, updates and photographs will be posted on the Valley View Ferry’s official Facebook page.
This operational pause is part of the ferry’s commitment to safety and reliability, ensuring it meets the standards set by the U.S. Coast Guard before resuming service.
