Campus updates for Spring Break 2024 at the University of Kentucky

Changes at the University of Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. — With Spring Break for 2024 on the horizon, University of Kentucky students have set their sight on relaxation and recreation. Some plan to travel, while the rest are opting to exploit the tranquility of the less crowded campus facilities. For this reason, various facilities at the university have adjusted their operational hours to accommodate those who will be spending their break on campus.

Dining and Libraries

Adjustments in service hours will include numerous dining locations and libraries across the campus. Students and staff can check the daily updates of timings here.

Campus Residence Halls

Notably, non-break residence halls will close their doors at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, and reopen them by noon on Sunday, March 17. Detailed information and necessary guidance about the seasonal hall closures are accessible on the wildcatliving.uky.edu or can be obtained via email.

Transport and Recreation

The UK Transportation Services is prepared to facilitate the students during the break. Up-to-date schedules and parking information are available on the UK Transportation’s website. Furthermore, they’re providing information regarding airport shuttle services on their website to ease travel plans for students.

UK campus Recreation anticipates keeping the Johnson Center operational Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nevertheless, this schedule can change, and students are encouraged to check the website for the most recent updates.

Spring Break Safety Tips

To ensure students have a safe and fun spring break, the university has provided a list of essential Spring Break safety tips for those leaving the campus, which can be found here.

University’s Commitment

The University of Kentucky, the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, remains steadfast in its mission to advance the Commonwealth by preparing the next generation of leaders. Over the years, it has been a catalyst for breakthroughs and healing, thanks to its people — visionaries, pioneers, and disruptors.

Besides academic programs, the university boasts a $476.5 million research and development enterprise, as well as a world-class medical center, all on one campus. In 2022, UK was recognized by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads”, reflecting its commitment to fostering talent and promoting diversity.

While the University’s mission has transformed since its inception in 1865, its vision to serve the Commonwealth and contribute to the global community remains constant. Truly, it is the University for Kentucky.
