The alleged attack took place on February 18, 2025, in Ball Hall, one of the residence halls on campus, and involved a series of startling accusations. The victim reached out to UK police on February 22, 2025, four days after the incident, detailing a night that escalated into horror.
According to the reports, during the assault, Thompson is accused of raping the victim while Adkins allegedly applied pressure to her neck, causing noticeable bruising and injuries. These details, highlighted in court documents, paint a grim picture of the alleged events that left the victim traumatized.
In a swift response, the University of Kentucky police launched an investigation, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for both suspects shortly after the report. Both Thompson and Adkins surrendered to the Lexington Police Department on March 3, 2025. Following their arrests, they were placed on a hefty $25,000 bond at the Fayette County Detention Center.
While Adkins has since posted bond and has been released, it’s notable that he is no longer enrolled at the university. Meanwhile, Thompson remains behind bars, facing serious charges of first-degree rape and second-degree strangulation.
In light of these events, the University of Kentucky has reiterated its stance against sexual violence. The university emphasized that such incidents are completely unacceptable and run contrary to the values that the community holds dear. As a precautionary measure, both students have been suspended from the university and banned from campus while a Title IX investigation is conducted.
