Lexington is buzzing with news that Ryan Ross has been appointed as the new president and CEO of the University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union (UKFCU). Ross, who is set to step into this significant role on October 14, will be taking over from Dan Kittleson. Kittleson had been serving as CFO and has acted as the interim CEO since November of last year, steering the ship during a transitional period.
The decision to appoint Ross was the result of an extensive nationwide search conducted by UKFCU’s board of directors. Their careful consideration led to the selection of Ross, who is praised for his deep understanding of credit unions and his unwavering commitment to member-centric approaches. The board’s president, Tyler Gayheart, expressed a strong belief in Ross’s ability to innovate and foster growth within the organization, which has become increasingly important in today’s fast-changing financial landscape.
Before joining UKFCU, Ryan Ross served as the president and CEO of Soarion Federal Credit Union in San Antonio. During his time there, he managed a robust $645 million institution, where he honed his skills and developed strategies that benefited both the institution and its members. Prior to that, Ross spent over six years as the Executive Vice President at Pen Air Credit Union located in Pensacola, Florida, where he gained a wealth of experience in the credit union sector.
UKFCU isn’t just any credit union; it’s the fourth largest financial cooperative by assets in all of Kentucky, boasting approximately $1.5 billion in assets. With a hardworking team of 260 employees spread across seven locations, this credit union proudly serves over 107,000 members. The sheer scale and significant presence of UKFCU in the community highlight the vital role it plays in the financial lives of its members, offering services that are tailored to meet their needs.
With Ryan Ross at the helm starting mid-October, members can look forward to a fresh perspective and significant developments. The credit union community, particularly at UKFCU, is known for its emphasis on members’ well-being, and Ross’s leadership is expected to enhance this further. His experience suggests that he’ll bring not only innovative ideas but also a trusted approach that prioritizes the interests of the members.
