Lexington, Kentucky Begins Tuesday with Rain but Forecasts Indicate Warmer, Drier Conditions with A Chance of Unsettled Weather by Weekend

Rainy Start to Tuesday in Lexington, Kentucky

Lexington, Ky. – Residents woke up to a wet start on Tuesday as rain showers moved in overnight, accumulating over an inch of rain in some areas. The downpour, predominantly concentrated in the central parts of the state, is being tracked moving eastward throughout the day.

Drier Conditions Expected Later In The Day

According to meteorological forecasts, the afternoon promises to bring in drier conditions for the Lexington area. However, Eastern Kentucky may have to bear with lingering isolated showers and a few storms through the afternoon. Weather changes are expected in the evening with improved conditions leading to a pleasant night with temperatures falling into the low-to-mid 50s.

Warmer Weather Ahead

As the state moves through the week, the weather takes a turn with Wednesday earmarked as a “Go Day”. Residents can expect enjoyably cool morning temperatures and afternoon highs reaching into the low 80s. As the week progresses, Thursday stands out as possibly the warmest day, with temperatures forecasted to hit the mid-80s in some areas.

Unsettled Weather Towards The End Of The Week

The warmth leads to a shift in the weather pattern as Friday sees unsettled weather likely to persist through the weekend. A few waves of system are expected, with the first one moving in during the day on Friday.

Weekend Weather Outlook

The forecast for Saturday indicates a better weather condition than Friday, with the highest chance of rain predicted for eastern Kentucky, while Central Kentucky may experience a lesser amount of rainfall. All eyes remain set on the weather forecast for the historic 150th running of the Kentucky Derby. As of now, there is a possibility of early afternoon showers, but with optimism, the rain chances appear to be on the lower end. The unsettled weather patterns however do seem to continue through Sunday with an isolated likelihood of showers and storms, but these chances are said to increase going into the start of the next week.
