New Traffic Signal to Enhance Safety at Lexington Intersection This Week

Traffic Signal Installation

Lexington, Kentucky is set to welcome a new traffic signal at a key intersection later this week. The traffic light will be located at the off-ramp of New Circle Road, directing traffic toward Old Frankfort Pike at mile marker 5.5.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced that the signal, which has been operating in flash mode since September 30, will become fully functional on Thursday, October 3, around 11 a.m.

This new signal will feature a protected left turn for vehicles making the transition from Old Frankfort Pike to westbound New Circle Road. Additionally, standard red, yellow, and green indications will be implemented for all other lanes, ensuring clarity for motorists.

The installation of the new traffic light aims to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow in the area, which has seen increased congestion in recent months. Local residents and commuters are encouraged to be cautious as they adjust to the new signal.

Officials suggest that the introduction of the traffic light will significantly reduce the likelihood of accidents at this busy interchange, particularly for drivers making left turns. The change is part of ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure throughout Lexington and its neighboring communities.

As the area prepares for the activation of the traffic signal, motorists should remain alert and follow any posted signage to ensure a smooth transition during the rollout.
