Toyota Announces $922 Million Investment in New Advanced Paint Facility in Georgetown, Kentucky

Georgetown, Kentucky – The Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky plant has announced a significant investment of $922 million to establish a new advanced paint facility at its Georgetown location. This marks the largest capital investment in Kentucky for the year and aims to enhance operational efficiencies and environmental sustainability.

The investment was revealed on Thursday, with plans set for the new facility to be operational by 2027. It will add approximately one million square feet of production capacity and is designed to reduce carbon emissions by 30% and diminish water usage by 1.5 million gallons annually. According to Kim Ogle, a spokesperson for Toyota, this facility is not expected to affect the current employment numbers.

Ogle highlighted that the investment underscores Toyota’s commitment to long-term job stability in the region. “Kentucky and Toyota have formed a winning partnership over the past 40 years that has been transformational for families throughout the commonwealth,” stated Governor Andy Beshear. “This latest investment builds on that tradition of success, and I thank them for once again investing in Kentucky and our incredible workforce.”

This announcement follows a previously disclosed investment of $1.3 billion earlier this year to facilitate the assembly of a new three-row battery electric SUV at the Georgetown site, expected to enter the U.S. market in 2026. Toyota’s total investment in Kentucky has now exceeded $11 billion since it began operations in 1986.

Local officials have expressed their gratitude for Toyota’s ongoing commitment to the Georgetown area. Scott County Judge Executive Joe Pat Covington remarked, “Toyota’s continued investment in Georgetown and Scott County is a testament to the confidence they have in our community and region as a great place to call home and do business.”
