A tragic single-vehicle accident occurred on the Thornhill Bypass near Schenkel Lane Wednesday afternoon, leading to the fatality of a 69-year-old Lexington man.
According to the Franklin County Coroner, William M. Stewart was the victim of the fatal accident. He was pronounced dead at 2:47 p.m. at the scene of the crash. Subsequently, a portion of the Thornhill Bypass near Schenkel Lane was barricated for several hours to investigate the cause of the incident.
After due process, Franklin County Coroner Will Harrod publicly released the name of the deceased. The victim, William M. Stewart, a Lexington resident, died as a result of the single-vehicle crash.
Frankfort police have launched an investigation to determine the exact reason behind the accident. It is currently unknown if there were other passengers in the vehicle or if there were other factors that contributed to the crash.
