Lexington Residents Urged to Prepare for Thanksgiving Amid Winter Storm Forecast and Adjusted Store Hours

Lexington residents are advised to prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday amid a chance of winter storms approaching next week, as local meteorologist Chris Bailey has noted a change in weather patterns. The city recently experienced its first snowstorm of the season, marking a shift towards colder temperatures.

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, it is essential for those in Lexington to know which local stores will be open for last-minute grocery needs. Several supermarkets and retail outlets have adjusted their hours for the holiday.

Thanksgiving Store Hours in Lexington:

  • Aldi: Closed
  • Costco: Closed
  • Kroger: Open until 3 p.m.
  • Meijer: Open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Pharmacy closes at 2 p.m.)

In addition to store hours, residents should be aware of changes to city services during the holiday week. There will be no city waste collection on Thursday, November 28, or Friday, November 29. Residents who usually have trash picked up on these days are instructed to place their cans at the curb on Wednesday, November 27, after 4 p.m. for early morning collection.

Important Trash Collection Details:

  • Yard waste collection will be suspended during Thanksgiving week, resuming on December 2.
  • Businesses with dumpsters scheduled for Thursday or Friday collection will also be served on Wednesday.
  • City facilities related to waste management will be closed from November 28 to December 1.

For Lexington residents looking to travel for Thanksgiving or those opting not to cook, it’s crucial to plan accordingly. The forecast for a winter storm adds urgency to preparations, potentially affecting holiday travel plans.
