LEXINGTON, Ky. – Susan Yackzan, Ph.D, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN), and UK HealthCare Enterprise Director of Service Line Performance Management has recently been elected to serve on the national Oncology Nursing Society’s (ONS) board of directors.
Yackzan, throughout her illustrious career, has demonstrated a commitment to the oncology nursing profession not only in her role at UK HealthCare, but also through her involvement with local ONS chapters. She previously served as an officer and board member, volunteering her skills for the benefit of the organization in various ways.
She has made significant contributions to ONS’s national project teams involved in the development and revision of the ONS Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy courses. Furthermore, she served as a faculty member for the ONS Breast Cancer Online Course and an associate editor for the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing. Her active involvement with ONS also extends to her role as a member and chairperson for the Oncology Nursing Society Congress Content Planning Team.
The ONS, representing over 100,000 oncology nurses with 35,000 professional members, is governed by the Board of Directors who have the ultimate authority regarding the activities of the organization. These professionals, dedicated to the advancement of oncology nursing, serve on the board for three-year terms, meeting monthly to determine the strategic direction of ONS.
