LEXINGTON, Ky. — Efforts to restore power are underway following severe floods and storms that affected the area. According to Jake Green, Vice President of Davis H. Elliot Services, the last few days have been challenging for local linemen tasked with getting power back to residents.
“It’s been a chaotic past few days, but I’ve been really proud of our team and the efforts we’ve made to get people’s power back on,” Green stated. The linemen have been working under tough conditions, often climbing poles and maneuvering through floodwaters and debris to restore electricity.
The storms have caused widespread power outages across the Bluegrass region, with thousands of downed power lines reported. Green emphasized the skill and dedication of the linemen, noting that the work they perform is not something everyone can do. “The skillsets of our team and our linemen are really impressive,” he said.
While rain and storm conditions have subsided, the restoration process is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. “We hope to make a really strong effort through the end of this week, but then even weeks thereafter there’s going to be a lot of cleanup work,” Green added.
Residents are advised to exercise caution around downed power lines, as workers continue to address thousands of incidents resulting from the storm damage. Green urged community members to stay at a safe distance from those downed lines to avoid potential hazards.
The restoration and cleanup efforts highlight both the difficulties faced by utility workers and their commitment to serving the community during these challenging times.
For ongoing updates, residents are encouraged to stay informed through local sources and remain vigilant as recovery efforts progress.
