The Bluegrass Division at Lexington, Kentucky, heart of the Bourbon country, brings you the 5 Star Rail Explorers Experience amidst enchanting scenery. Nestled just 20 minutes away from downtown Lexington and an hour from Louisville, this unique exploration is in partnership with the Bluegrass Scenic Railroad & Museum.

Visitors aboard these railbikes embark on an electrifying 10-mile round trip, parting thoroughbred horse farms, and descending into the deep cuts through limestone hills. At the turnaround area, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Wild Turkey Distillery and Young’s High Bridge, towering over the Kentucky River at a staggering 283 ft, well equipped with a snack and a drink of your choosing.

Rail Explorers FAQs

Children of all ages are welcome to take part in this thrilling journey. However, they must be accompanied by a rider who is at least 16 years of age to operate the brakes. Infants must be secured in a chest harness to an adult rider and are allowed to travel free of charge.

Each journey begins all at once with a tour guide leading the charge and another following at the rear. Group separation of up to 500ft is maintained to allow every group the freedom to experience the magic of nature and the allure of the railroad at their own pace.

Timely coordination ensures that all rail explorers have reached their destination before starting their return trip. This forethought puts safety first and ensures a smoother return journey for all explorers.

What to Bring?

Each explorer is equipped with a basket for bags, cameras, phones, or water bottles. Additionally, there is ample storage under the seats to secure additional bags or coolers. Explorers are also provided with umbrellas in case of rain and to provide shade on hot days.
