Two Pedestrian-Involved Crashes Occur in Lexington, One Near University of Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Police responded to two pedestrian-involved crashes on Thursday morning at busy intersections within the city, including one incident near the University of Kentucky campus.

The first crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Cooper Drive and Veterans Drive, just outside the university. Authorities reported injuries resulting from the collision involving a pedestrian. The lane that was initially blocked has since been reopened. The condition of the pedestrian involved has not yet been disclosed.

The second incident took place earlier, around 5:30 a.m., on inbound Winchester Road at Elkhorn Road. A pedestrian was hit by a truck while attempting to cross this high-traffic area. Emergency crews quickly responded, and the pedestrian was transported to the hospital with injuries that are considered non-life-threatening. Traffic was temporarily halted in both lanes of inbound Winchester Road during the emergency response, but the roadway has since been reopened.

According to police, no charges are expected in connection with either crash. The scenarios underline ongoing concerns regarding pedestrian safety in busy urban areas.
