KCTCS Seeks Nominations for Pathfinder High School Teacher/Counselor Recognition Award

COVINGTON, KY – The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) is currently seeking to honor dedicated educators with the Pathfinder High School Teacher/Counselor Recognition Award. Nominations are open until December 31, targeting teachers and counselors who make significant impacts in guiding students through their educational journeys.

The initiative, aimed at recognizing unsung heroes in the education sector, invites KCTCS students, faculty, and high school staff to nominate deserving individuals. According to KCTCS President Ryan Quarles, this award aims to give “credit where credit is due,” highlighting the additional efforts educators undertake to help students realize their educational aspirations.

A total of 16 educators will be recognized, with one awardee selected from each of the 16 college service areas within the KCTCS system. Nominations can be submitted by any KCTCS-related individual as well as by high school staff. Key criteria for selection include:

  • Encouragement toward attending a KCTCS college.
  • Assistance in identifying a career and postsecondary path.
  • Provision of mentorship.
  • Maintaining ongoing contact with students.

Winners will be revealed early in the new year during local high school events. Recipients of the award will receive a specially designed trophy and a prize package as recognition for their efforts.

For more details on the nomination process, interested parties are encouraged to visit the KCTCS website dedicated to the Pathfinder Award program. This recognition continues to shine a spotlight on the vital role teachers and counselors play in shaping the future of students across Kentucky.
