Traffic Chaos Continues in Georgetown, Kentucky as Paris Pike Remains Closed Due to Downed Power Lines

Georgetown, Kentucky – Paris Pike in Scott County remains shut down as a result of downed power lines after a vehicle accident occurred around 1 p.m. on Saturday. According to Michael Hennigan from Scott County Emergency Management, the incident has caused significant traffic congestion in the area and will likely keep the road closed until Tuesday.

All four lanes of Paris Pike, specifically around the I-75 125 mile-marker, are currently closed, with traffic being redirected to nearby Leesburg Pike and Newtown Pike. The obstruction has stirred considerable delays for those traveling through the region.

In a separate incident earlier, a semi-truck flipped on northbound I-75 near the 124 mile-marker, resulting in a closure at the 120 mile marker on Sunday morning. Moreover, another collision occurred on southbound I-75 at the 128 mile marker, exacerbating the traffic situation as tow truck availability was limited. Fortunately, both sections of I-75 have since reopened.

As of Sunday morning, in addition to the closure on Paris Pike, lanes around Newtown Pike also remain obstructed due to the downed power lines from the earlier accident. Travelers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while repair crews work to restore power and clear the roadways.

Emergency management authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution and remain alert, as traffic conditions may continue to be unstable in the coming days. Updates regarding the reopening of Paris Pike and the status of power restoration will be issued as they become available.
