Lexington, Ky. – The parents of a 3-month-old boy, Greyson Torres, are facing serious legal consequences following the child’s tragic death attributed to alleged abuse. Amancio Torres-Trevino Jr., the child’s father, is accused of inflicting physical abuse, while the child’s mother, Kaela Walker, stands accused of failing to report this abuse. Both entered not guilty pleas during their arraignment that took place on Monday morning.
According to court documents, Greyson Torres experienced what authorities describe as “intentional abuse” from his father throughout the majority of his life. His extended family, including his grandmother, has voiced their concerns about the child’s safety prior to his death. Linda Fitzgerald, Greyson’s grandmother, recalled an incident where she noted a bruise on her grandson’s face. “I noticed the bruise on Greyson’s face and I asked Kayla how Greyson got the bruise on his face. She proceeds to tell me that Greyson made the bruise on his face. I told her she was nothing but lying,” Fitzgerald stated.
Walker’s arrest citation indicates that she witnessed abuse occurring multiple times but did not take action to report it to authorities. This inaction continued until she filed an Emergency Protective Order (EPO) against Torres-Trevino on September 30, following an incident from September 29 that sent her son to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Fitzgerald expressed her anguish and frustration regarding the situation, stating, “I hope they rot in jail. Both of them. Not one, but both.” In the court hearings held on Monday, the case against Torres-Trevino was referred to a grand jury for further consideration, while Walker’s hearing has been postponed until October 21.
