Parents arrested in Lexington after three-month-old baby dies from alleged abuse, case ruled a homicide

Lexington, Kentucky – A three-month-old baby, Greyson Torres, has succumbed to injuries resulting from alleged physical abuse. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the infant passed away on Wednesday at Kentucky Children’s Hospital, with the cause of death determined to be intentional physical abuse, officially ruling the case a homicide.

The baby’s parents, 20-year-old Kaela B. Walker and 20-year-old Amancio Torres-Trevino Jr., both residents of Lexington, were arrested a day prior to Greyson’s death, originally charged with first-degree criminal abuse relating to a victim under the age of 12. The coroner’s report has prompted prosecutors to seek more severe charges.

According to law enforcement, the alleged abuse occurred on September 29 at a residence located on Alumni Drive. Torres-Trevino is specifically accused of inflicting harm on the infant, while Walker reportedly failed to report the abuse, raising inquiries about her responsibility in the events leading up to Greyson’s death.

Both suspects are currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center, with bail set at $100,000 cash each. The legal proceedings will likely evolve following the tragic death, as the community grapples with the distressing nature of this case.

The public reflects a deep concern over the circumstances surrounding Greyson’s untimely passing. Investigations continue as authorities aim to piece together the full timeline of events and ensure accountability for those involved.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the ongoing challenges of child protection and the urgent need for vigilance in safeguarding vulnerable populations.
