Delta Air Lines to Resume Nonstop Flights from Lexington to New York City in May 2025

Lexington will regain direct access to New York City next year as Delta Air Lines announces the resumption of daily nonstop flights. The service, which will connect Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport with LaGuardia Airport, is set to begin on May 7, 2025.

Daily flights will depart Blue Grass Airport at 7 a.m., arriving in New York at 8:50 a.m. The return flights will leave LaGuardia at 7:59 p.m., landing back in Lexington at 9:49 p.m. The aircraft operating this route will be the CRJ-900, according to a recent announcement from the airport.

Blue Grass Airport has not offered daily direct flights to New York City since before the COVID-19 pandemic. This return is seen as a significant enhancement for local travelers. “Hardly a week has gone by when we haven’t heard from someone in our community asking about the return of nonstop service from Lexington to New York, so we are thrilled Delta Air Lines is announcing this flight will return to Blue Grass Airport in May 2025,” stated Eric Frankl, president and CEO of Blue Grass Airport.

The decision to reinstate the service is underscored by the community’s demand. Frankl urges residents to show their support by utilizing the route upon its return, emphasizing the potential success built through local commitment.

According to David Hart, Delta’s managing director of network planning, this new flight route not only reaffirms the airline’s dedication to connecting Lexington to additional destinations, but it also enhances travel choices for customers flying for both business and leisure purposes.

With ticket sales commencing on Saturday, travelers are encouraged to book their flights in advance through Delta’s website, Delta.com. As the community anticipates this development, the return of nonstop service to New York City is positioned as a new chapter for local air travel.
