UK Choristers’ ‘Night on Broadway’ Brings the Magic of Disney to Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky., March 11, 2024

The Resurgence of a Beloved Classic

The University of Kentucky Choristers have announced the reprise of their annual Night on Broadway (NOB) at the Singletary Center Recital Hall stage Saturday, March 23, promising a spectacular showcase of Disney’s musical magic. The event, a favourite among performers and audience members, proudly returns with two enchanting performances of “A Magical Night on Broadway.”

The showcase will transport the audience into the spellbinding worlds of “The Little Mermaid,” “Mary Poppins,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Tarzan” and a plethora of other much-beloved Disney classics. Beth Wilson, D.M.A., the conductor of UK Choristers, expressed her excitement for the upcoming performances, describing them as a favourite of the performers and patrons.

About UK Choristers

As the oldest performing organization on campus, the UK Choristers is widely recognized for its diverse membership and musical prowess. Boasting a 95-voice mixed choir, these harbingers of melody specialize in choral repertoire encompassing a wide range of periods and styles, both a cappella and with accompaniment. The Choristers have had the honour of performing at notable events such as the 2021 and 2022 KMEA Conferences, and regularly collaborate with UK Symphony Orchestra to treat audiences to their masterful performances, both locally and regionally.

Voices from UK Choristers

Jasmine Sturgeon, a UK Choristers co-president and arts administration major with a minor in percussion, expressed personal excitement for this year’s Disney-themed NOB. “Night On Broadway has been my favourite performance that I have done at UK every year… This year’s theme being Disney has been the most exciting,” she expressed, her enthusiasm an echo of the collective pride palpable at every rehearsal.

“A Magical Night on Broadway” takes over the Singletary Center Recital Hall at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23. Tickets for the event are priced at $17 for students and $34 for adults, exclusive of additional ticketing fees.
