Lexington is set to welcome a new retail destination as Pomegranate, a linens and home accessories brand, prepares to open its doors at 700 E. Main St. The grand opening is scheduled for December 3, 2024.
Previously, Pomegranate’s offerings were exclusively available through online channels and seasonal warehouse events. The new brick-and-mortar location marks a significant expansion into the local retail market, filling the space formerly occupied by the Magical Toy Shoppe, which closed in 2022.
The Lexington-based company, founded by Angela Beck, is known for its hand-block-printed textiles, inspired by Beck’s travels and her experiences at historic Gainesway Farm. The new store will not only showcase exclusive collections of home decor and antique pieces sourced from Europe but will also serve as a community hub.
Beginning in early 2025, Pomegranate plans to host various community events including wine tastings, workshops, book clubs, and mahjong nights, creating a vibrant space for gathering and connection. The courtyard outside the store will feature seasonal dining options with locally sourced ingredients, crafted by renowned Kentucky chef Ouita Michel.
Customers will also have the opportunity to enjoy wine from Beck’s own Angela Vineyards in Oregon, available both by the pour and by the bottle. The cafe area, named Penny’s at Pomegranate, in honor of Michel’s mother, will serve lunch and brunch, further enriching the customer experience.
“Pomegranate is about gathering, connecting, and enjoying the present,” Beck stated. “I wanted to create a place where people feel welcome to gather, shop, and stay a while.” This vision aligns perfectly with the upcoming holiday season, providing a unique shopping experience for local residents and visitors alike.
For those wishing to visit, Pomegranate will be open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Sundays. Additional information regarding the products and offerings can be found on their website.
