Kentucky Governor Launches “New Kentucky Home” Initiative to Boost Tourism and Economic Growth

Lexington, Ky. — In the wake of a record-breaking tourism year in 2023, Governor Andy Beshear has introduced a new initiative aimed at bolstering Kentucky’s economy. The “New Kentucky Home” campaign was unveiled during an event where leaders from various cities, including Owensboro, Paintsville, and Lexington, expressed their support.

The initiative seeks to enhance the appeal of Kentucky as both a destination and a place to live, encouraging residents and tourists to reconnect with the unique beauty of the Bluegrass State. “When they hear about Kentucky, they certainly know why they should visit and why they should move,” Beshear stated.

Mary Quinn Ramer, President and CEO of VisitLEX, emphasized the importance of this plan. “Lexington is a good place to visit; it will be a good place to work and play,” she remarked. She believes that making Lexington an attractive place for work and recreation will consequently drive investment into the region.

The “New Kentucky Home” initiative is designed to stimulate growth across multiple sectors, including tourism, nature preservation, and talent retention. “The launch of our ‘New Kentucky Home’ initiative gives us another tool to bring in even more business, more tourism,” Beshear noted, highlighting the potential for the campaign to elevate the state’s profile on a global scale.

As part of the campaign, Kentuckians and supporters are encouraged to engage on social media using the hashtag #NewKyHome. This initiative aims to resonate not only within the state but also to attract visitors and future residents from outside Kentucky.
