Lexington, Ky. – Police have apprehended a man they allege stole a safe from a local restaurant. Paul Masters, facing a burglary charge, reportedly broke into Giuseppe’s off Old Nicholasville Road in July.
The incident occurred when Masters allegedly entered through the roof and took a safe containing nearly $7,000. Surveillance footage captured the crime, providing crucial evidence for investigators.
Masters was arrested on September 20 in Fayette County on unrelated charges. During that arrest, officers reviewed body camera footage and recognized similarities between Masters and the suspect recorded on the restaurant’s surveillance video. They noted that he was wearing the same shoes as the burglar captured on camera.
Additionally, police had previous knowledge of Masters from an earlier case, further solidifying their connection to the crime.
Masters is scheduled to appear in court on Friday. The incident underscores the importance of surveillance in solving crimes and highlights the efforts of local law enforcement in addressing burglary cases.
