News Summary

Lexington’s BBQ scene welcomes LX BBQ, set to open on February 8 in the former Blue Door Smokehouse location. Brothers-in-law Chris Baker and Ricky Carter have transformed the space, preserving its history while introducing a modern twist. Featuring Texas-style craft barbecue and high-quality USDA Prime cuts, LX BBQ aims to captivate local foodies with its mouth-watering offerings, including brisket, pulled pork, and homemade sausages. Renowned for their delicious sides and unique sauces, diners can expect a delightful dining experience that pays homage to BBQ traditions.

Exciting New Chapter for Lexington’s BBQ Scene

Lexington, brace yourselves! A delightful new BBQ restaurant is gearing up to open its doors on February 8, breathing fresh life into a beloved location that many in the community will recognize. LX BBQ is set to take over the space that was once home to the popular Blue Door Smokehouse, and the excitement is palpable.

Goodbye Blue Door, Hello LX BBQ!

The Blue Door Smokehouse was a staple in the Lexington barbecue landscape, known for its delicious offerings over a nine-year run on Walton Avenue. However, in April, Blue Door relocated to National Avenue, leaving behind a legacy and a space ripe for new opportunities. Brothers-in-law Chris Baker and Ricky Carter saw that opportunity and decided to transform the beloved spot into LX BBQ.

These two passionate grill-masters have taken the former space and ramped up the renovations, giving it a fresh vibe while still respecting its history. The iconic blue front door has made way for a sleek black one, setting the tone for a modern barbecue experience.

The Vision Behind LX BBQ

Interestingly enough, Baker and Carter didn’t initially intend to occupy the Blue Door location. Once they saw the deal on the table, however, they knew they had to jump on it. Their aim at LX BBQ isn’t to compete with Blue Door but instead to capture the hearts (and stomachs) of barbecue lovers drawn by the promise of quality meat.

Texas-Style BBQ Awaits

So, what can you expect when you step through that new black door? For starters, LX BBQ is set to showcase a mouth-watering selection of Texas-style craft barbecue. With an emphasis on high-quality meats, they are committed to using USDA Prime cuts. Guests can anticipate succulent brisket sourced from Creakstone Farms in Kansas, along with pulled pork, spare ribs, turkey, and even homemade cheddar jalapeno sausage.

Diners can choose from a range of options, whether it’s the amazing meats served in sandwiches priced from $12 to $14, or plates featuring one to three meats for $18 to $28. All meals come with sides, pickles, onions, and bread, elevating your dining experience to new heights.

A Flavor Explosion Awaits!

X BBQ also promises tasty varieties with additional homemade sausage flavors, including beef ribs, and those tempting pork belly burnt ends that every BBQ aficionado dreams about. And to top it all off, how about a brisket burger to sink your teeth into?

As for sauces, customers will be treated to two special house-made options: a Texas black pepper mustard vinegar sauce and a sweeter sauce that will remind people of the popular Sweet Baby Ray’s. Each bite can be customized to your heat and flavor preference!

Homemade Sides Galore!

Sides are not an afterthought here! Homemade potato salad, mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, and green beans will be on the menu to complement your BBQ feast. There’s no doubt you’ll walk away feeling like you just enjoyed a banquet fit for kings!

Renovations and Future Plans

The renovations don’t just stop at the food. The interior has received a fresh coat of white paint (goodbye black ceiling!), new tables and chairs, updated lighting, and revamped walls, with the only item left from the Blue Door era being the chalkboard menu. Outside, two offset smokers take center stage, with hopes of expanding the patio for more outdoor seating options in the future.

When to Visit LX BBQ

At the moment, LX BBQ will be open on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. until they sell out, which means you’ll want to get there early! But don’t worry—plans are already in motion to expand to daily service soon. They will also be rolling out pre-orders and catering options, so whether it’s a casual meal or a big event, you’ll have the chance to enjoy their delicious offerings.

Location and Contact Information

Find LX BBQ at 226 Walton Avenue. For those who have questions or want to place an order, you can reach them at 859-421-0509.

It looks like LX BBQ will bring a wonderful new flavor to Lexington’s vibrant food scene, and local foodies couldn’t be more excited! So gather your friends and family, and get ready to dig into some truly scrumptious BBQ!
