LEXINGTON, KY

As the beautiful season of spring unfolds, Kentucky is blooming with a variety of events. One such event recently took place in Lexington, where dozens of talented artisans presented their captivating creations at a lively block party. The event was hosted by the creative hub Local Lex Market.

Building a Bridge of Creativity in the Community

The block party was more than just an opportunity for artists to present and sell their work. It was an interactive platform where a blend of creativity and community spirit was prominently on display. As per event coordinator, Carrie Morris, the idea behind the event was to build a bridge between local artists and the public.

“People come and present what they have to offer. It’s a lot of local artists,” said Morris.

Local Lex Market is an artist hub showcasing the high-quality products of 75 local crafters, artists, and artisan food makers.

A Block Party Making Community Stronger

The block party was held in the parking lot of the market, with dozens of artists and vendors setting up outdoor shops. One such captivating shop was of the creative duo, Dave and his wife, from Georgetown Originals.“We hand make all these items. We’ve got jams and pepper jellies all made by me. I make the leather totes and purses…”, said Fehling. This couple does a remarkable array of everything, creating quality products with a knack.

Their business journey began in Florida, and after retiring, they’ve been selling their creations in the Commonwealth for the last nine years. The block party was their first foray, but certainly not the last. Along with others, their expressed and vivid joy attracts loads of admiration from customers.

Local Lex Market Bridging Artists and the Community

It’s not just the artists who enjoy the block party; the creative hub, Local Lex Market, also takes pride in hosting traditional events like these. They appreciatively embrace the effort towards bringing diverse artists together and building a stronger community.
