Lexington, Ky. — A local florist is transforming the floral experience with a unique twist. Shelby Lang, owner of Poppy’s Flower Bar, opened her creative space two weeks ago on Old Mount Tabor Rd. in Lexington. The concept combines a vibrant flower selection with a lively bar atmosphere, offering customers an enjoyable and immersive experience.
“Just come in, have a drink, and grab some flowers,” said Lang, emphasizing the atmosphere she aims to provide. The flower bar is designed to be a fun, interactive spot that stands apart from traditional floral shops.
The experience begins upon entry, where fresh flowers and crafted cocktails await. “It felt like the right location, and it was kind of the perfect marriage of two things that I really love and do,” Lang explained, reflecting on her decision to open this venture.
Lang’s journey in the floral business began a decade ago when she purchased a floral shop in Lexington. While catering to wedding planning has been a significant aspect of her career, she expressed a desire to merge her passion for flowers with her long-held dream of owning a bar. “I knew that I wanted to own a bar eventually. It was kind of a ten-year plan and then I happened to fall into this space,” Lang said.
The flower bar caters to diverse social occasions, whether it’s a date night or a girls’ night out. Customers can select from a variety of beautiful blooms, add greenery, and create their personalized bouquet, all while enjoying a cocktail or mocktail. “People come in, and then they leave smiling. It’s just so gratifying to see that,” she noted, highlighting the positive atmosphere within the space.
