In a heartrending incident, a Lexington woman, Ashley Wyatt, was tragically killed in a northern Kentucky accident. The incident, which involved the loss of control of her vehicle, also put the lives of her two cherished dogs, Scarlett and Ariel, at serious risk. While Scarlett was seriously injured, Ariel fled the scene and is currently missing.
Ashley Wyatt, just 36 years old, was remembered by loved ones for her exuberant smile and infectious laugh. Her life fatally ended due to a vehicle crash that occurred along the stretch of the interstates I-75 and I-275, near Crescent Springs Pike.
“Her smile was contagious. She had this laugh that just exuded joy. She’s just like a heart of gold,” said Jamie Florence, a close friend to the deceased.
Scarlett, one of the dogs present at the crash scene, severely broke both of her legs and requires immediate surgery. Ariel is currently missing after presumably running away from the crash site.
As rescue efforts continue for Ariel, volunteers have been mobilized to search the area surrounding the crash site. The search for Ariel extends to the surrounding locales, a course plotted based on leads given by locals.
Given Scarlett’s urgent need for medical attention, Ashley’s friends initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help fund her medical costs and to also potentially contribute towards the search for Ariel. The campaign has seen a significant level of support, receiving breathtaking donations within its first 24 hours of being launched.
This overwhelming response is a testament to Ashley’s positive influence which has undoubtedly touched many people’s lives, despite her short life span.
The goal, her friends say, is to bring some semblance of normalcy back to Ashley’s family. Saving Scarlett and Ariel—from the trauma of the accident and Ariel’s current unknown whereabouts respectively—stands at the heart of this intention.
