Kentucky Utilities identifies Lexington as hardest hit by severe storms, over 10,000 customers without power

Lexington, KY – In response to recent severe weather conditions, Kentucky Utilities spokesperson Drew Gardner announced that Lexington has been identified as the most affected area in the state. This has sparked urgent discussions about power restoration and safety measures for residents.

The announcement was made during a press briefing on Monday, where Gardner detailed the extensive damage caused by the storms that swept through Central Kentucky over the weekend. He stressed the importance of resident awareness regarding ongoing power outages and safety protocols in place for the community.

As of today, over 10,000 customers remain without power, with restoration efforts already underway. Utility crews are working around the clock to assess damages and expedite repairs. Gardner emphasized that safety is the top priority, advising residents to report downed power lines and avoid using generators indoors.

Additionally, the company has activated emergency response plans, allocating resources and manpower to the hardest-hit areas. The utility expects to restore power to most customers by the end of the week, weather permitting.

This situation highlights the ongoing need for preparedness in the face of unpredictable weather patterns. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through local updates and interactive apps that provide real-time notifications regarding outages and weather alerts.

Authorities urge the community to remain cautious while traveling and to follow safety guidelines provided by local agencies. Through these efforts, officials strive to ensure a swift recovery for all affected residents.

For further information and updates, residents are invited to engage with local news platforms and governmental outlets. They can also sign up for alerts regarding weather and safety directly from emergency management services.
