Lexington VA Holds Informative Event about PACT Act Revisions and VA Healthcare Eligibility
Lexington, Virginia
An informative event is scheduled to be held by Lexington’s Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System at the Sousley Campus on June 8. This event aims to educate veterans about the expanded PACT Act and other services for which they might be eligible. Due to the PACT Act’s recent expansion, veterans exposed to toxins and other hazards are deemed eligible for benefits up to eight years earlier than previously stated.
New Opportunities for Veterans
Anna Mills, the Kentucky PACT Act coordinator, shared her excitement about the outreach event. “All three branches of VA will be here on Saturday to assist veterans with any questions. They have enrollment eligibility, eligibility claims. It is what I’ve been calling a one-stop VA shop,” said Mills.
She urges veterans who previously believed they were not eligible for VA Healthcare to revisit their status. “A lot of people who have previously tried to enroll in VA Healthcare said, ‘Well, I’m not eligible, I’m not going to go back.’ They should find out if they’re eligible. Now, under the PACT Act, because of how things have changed.”
A Family-Friendly Event
The exemplary event is set to begin at 1 p.m., boasting a wide variety of VA HealthCare experts and community associates. The presence of family-friendly activities, such as the display of emergency service vehicles from local firefighters and police, has been stressed. Families can look forward to a drive-in showing of “The Super Mario Brothers Movie” that begins at 4:15 p.m. – possibly a good reason for even kids to get excited about the event.
Community Support for Veterans
The Lexington community has always been supportive of its veterans, and this event is just another example of the strides being taken to ensure military veterans receive the benefits they’re entitled to and have earned. The outreach event, aimed at informing veterans about the revisions in the PACT Act and healthcare eligibility, is expected to see a good turnout. It is quite clear that the Lexington VA Healthcare System truly prioritizes the aid and well-being of each of its cherished veterans.
Supporting the Cause
The VA strives to be a reliable source for the community, promoting public service and fact-based information. Those who frequent and appreciate the efforts made by the VA can offer their support through contributions. This initiative does not hold up a paywall – the VA welcomes voluntary support from the community. The earnings are utilized to maintain and further the VA’s endeavours. Lexington’s VA Healthcare System, through consistent dedication, seeks to always be there for the community’s veterans, and events like these serve to reinforce this commitment.
