Lexington Tattoo Artist Organizes Suitcases for Fosters Event to Support Children in Foster Care

Lexington Tattoo Artist Hosts Event for Foster Care Children

**_Lexington, Ky._** — Leiah Wainscott, a burgeoning tattoo artist with about a year and a half of professional experience, is dedicated to supporting children in the foster care system. Wainscott is organizing an event called **_Suitcases for Fosters_** on Saturday, November 23, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Boss Babe Tattoo located on Richmond Road in Lexington.

The initiative aims to gather donations of suitcases for children and teens currently in foster care. Wainscott, who has firsthand experience in the system, believes that providing a suitcase can offer a sense of stability and dignity for kids who often find themselves moving from home to home. “I want to give them a form of stability,” she said, reflecting on her own experiences of frequently having her belongings packed in trash bags during her childhood.

Wainscott noted the emotional impact of her own upbringing in foster care began at age 15 as she transitioned through various homes. “The one thing I remember from moving to different homes was they grab the trash bag… It didn’t matter what home or how many homes I was in,” she shared. “I wanted that home to choose me; I wanted that home to adopt me.”

Now a mother and with plans to foster children herself, Wainscott is determined to channel her past struggles into positive community support. “If that means working hours upon hours giving out free tattoos for donations of suitcases and toys, that’s what I’m going to do,” she stated.

Individuals attending the event are encouraged to donate a suitcase, along with a toy or activity that can provide enjoyment for the children receiving them. Wainscott’s commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment not only reflects her passion for the tattooing art but also her desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable youths.

The event is expected to attract local supporters aiming to uplift foster care children and offer them items that signify hope and belonging.
