Lexington Residents Asked to Report Damage from Hurricane Helene to Aid Recovery Efforts

Lexington residents are encouraged to report any property damage caused by Hurricane Helene as the city assesses the storm’s impact. The Lexington-Fayette County Emergency Management is seeking residents’ assistance in documenting the extent of damage through an easy-to-use survey tool known as Survey123.

The request for damage reporting comes in light of the hurricane’s effects, which resulted in various levels of destruction in the area. Using Survey123, residents can provide details on the damage to their properties including fallen trees and debris, as well as any issues related to the streets surrounding their homes.

Residents can submit multiple damage reports if their properties experienced different types of damage. For example, individuals can report an uprooted tree in one submission and limbs resting on their garage roof in another. The collection of this information is crucial as it helps the city determine the overall impact of the storm.

Currently, there is no state-wide emergency declaration in place. However, if such a declaration occurs, the accumulated data from these reports could prove beneficial for state-level responses and assistance. It is important to note that completing the survey does not guarantee any financial assistance to residents.

The survey can be accessed online through the following link: https://arcg.is/1inX1K1. It is advisable for residents to fill out the report as soon as possible to ensure their damage is accounted for in the city’s evaluation. Emergency management officials are keen to gather this data promptly to facilitate appropriate assistance and recovery efforts for the community.

Emergency management officials stress that accurate reporting is essential to properly assess the hurricane’s damage and to potentially secure state and federal support for recovery. Residents of Lexington are urged to take a few moments to document their experiences and help their community rebuild.
