Lexington Police Seek Persons of Interest in University of Kentucky Shooting Incident

Lexington, Kentucky – The Lexington Police Department is actively seeking several persons of interest linked to a shooting incident that occurred near the University of Kentucky earlier this month. The shooting took place around 1:55 a.m. on November 3 at the Raising Canes restaurant located on South Upper Street. Witnesses reported seeing a large crowd fleeing the scene as gunfire erupted.

According to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers, although no injuries were reported in the incident, multiple vehicles sustained damage from the gunfire. As detectives work to identify the individuals involved, they are urging the public to provide any leads. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at 859-253-2020 or via the P3 Tips app.

The recent incident has raised safety concerns in the area, prompting the University of Kentucky Police Department (UKPD) to enhance security measures around the campus. UKPD has announced the implementation of increased police patrols and improved lighting in response to a series of incidents reported on the north side of campus, which includes several residence halls and primary campus buildings.

Police Chief Joe Monroe indicated that an increased police presence will be established on North Campus, with officers actively patrolling on bike, foot, and in vehicles from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. every Friday and Saturday. Monroe stated, “The safety of our students and employees is our top priority at the University of Kentucky.” He assured that the university is committed to investing resources necessary to ensure the safety of the community both on and off campus.

As law enforcement continues to seek leads in the shooting case, officials emphasize the importance of community involvement in helping to restore safety in the area. Multiple reports of disturbances have led to these proactive measures, as the university collaborates with city partners to enhance security for students who live and work around the campus.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to address public safety concerns in and around the university community.
