For Det. Travis Holt, who has been with law enforcement since 2009, this website marks an important step in the right direction. Speaking on the matter, Holt acknowledged the heavy burden that accompanies an unresolved case – especially for the victims’ families and the investigators. “It’s hard on us as investigators to go to a family and say ‘I’m sorry, we don’t have an answer.’ We would love to have an answer,” he said.
Holt believes that sometimes, it only takes one major tip or piece of information that can crack a case wide open. In light of this, the department hopes that by making these cases public, someone with information, who might not otherwise come forward, may be encouraged to do so, thus providing a much-needed breakthrough.
