News Summary

Recently, Lexington police have intensified their efforts to combat local crime, resulting in arrests related to a burglary at Giuseppe’s Ristorante Italiano and a dramatic bank robbery. The swift collaboration among various law enforcement agencies highlights the community’s commitment to safety. Suspects have been apprehended, and the police continue to seek information regarding a wanted individual. The community experiences both concern and reassurance as local law enforcement works diligently to maintain safety.

Lexington Police Step Up Efforts: Arrests Made in Recent Burglary and Bank Robbery Cases

Things have been buzzing in Lexington lately, with police making significant strides in tackling crime in the area. A couple of recent incidents have put the spotlight on local law enforcement collaborations and the efforts being made to maintain community safety.

Burglary at Famous Local Restaurant

First up, we take a look at a burglary that occurred at the much-loved Giuseppe’s Ristorante Italiano on July 10. The cops have arrested Paul V. Masters, a suspect accused of breaking into the restaurant. Masters allegedly disabled the alarm system before using a dolly to haul away a cash register and safe, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash. Not only did this unfortunate incident put a damper on the charming restaurant’s ambiance, but it also left damage in its wake, resulting in broken windows and even some damaged ceiling tiles.

The good news? The resilient team at Giuseppe’s cleaned up the mess and was back to serving its loyal patrons the very next morning. This popular eatery, which has been a Lexington staple for 27 years, is all about keeping the community spirit alive, and it looks like they won’t let a burglar get in their way!

Search for Suspected Burglar

As police continue their efforts, they are also on the hunt for a woman named Shelbi Field, who is wanted for second- and third-degree burglary in the area. At just 32 years old, Field has caught the attention of Bluegrass Crime Stoppers as they work tirelessly to keep Lexington safe. Community members are encouraged to share any relevant information about Field’s whereabouts by contacting the Crime Stoppers at 859-253-2020. They even offer cash rewards for those who choose to provide anonymous tips. Every little bit of information can help!

Bank Heist Shakes the Community

In another unsettling event, a bank robbery occurred on February 1, 2025, at the Central Bank on Southland Drive. Around 3 p.m. on that fateful day, a man strolled into the bank, demanding cash before making a quick escape with an undisclosed amount. The response was swift, and police were on the case almost immediately.

The transactional thrill-seeker, identified as Danzell Cruse, 30, didn’t just flee quietly – he created quite a scene by tossing money in the air as he made his getaway. Talk about making a dramatic exit! However, his luck ran out when he was arrested later that day, being charged in connection with the brazen robbery.

Caught in a Web of Crime

The fun didn’t end there. Authorities tracked down another individual, Corey Burch, 36, who was arrested in Nicholasville. Burch faced several charges, including first-degree robbery, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and theft of a motor vehicle. As if that weren’t enough, he also had an unrelated warrant out for his arrest. Burch is now comfortably lodged in the Jessamine County Detention Center as police continue their investigations into his activities.

A Big Thank You!

The swift actions of the Lexington Police Department were backed by the dedicated officers of the Nicholasville Police Department, who were instrumental in locating and apprehending Burch. Collaboration among law enforcement agencies is essential for keeping our neighborhoods safe, and this partnership proves that working together against crime really makes a difference!

As the community rallies together and strives for a safer Lexington, it’s clear that local police are on the ball and ready to tackle any challenge that comes their way. Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s all contribute to making our lovely town a secure and happy place!
