Lexington Opera House, Rupp Arena Introduce Various Talents to the Stage

Lexington, KY – No matter your choice of entertainment – music, comedy, or Broadway shows – the Lexington Opera House is eager to feed your appetite for diverse talent. Trevor Chesler, the Director of Booking for Rupp Arena & Lexington Opera House, has for the past two and a half years been solely dedicated to making Lexington a hotspot for touring shows.

Serving the Community Positively

“Our main goal is to serve the community positively. Experience, tradition, and history are on our side, and we harness all these resources to continuously deliver quality entertainment,” Chesler began. “Our historic Rupp Arena is almost 50, the Lexington Opera House is over a century old. We have a proud legacy of hosting numerous artists, a practice we are adamant to keep pushing into the future,” Chesler continues.

From Traditional Entertainment to Unconventional Forms of Performing Arts

In a bid to remain relevant and exciting, Chesler revealed that the team is exploring more contemporary forms of entertainment. “I’ve been experimenting with what I like to call snowball shows,” Chesler explains. “We attempt something new, say, a comic act. If it sells out, we harness the momentum and sign another comic and from there, keep the ball rolling. It’s been amazing; Lexington is now known as a comedy market.”

Welcoming Podcast Tours

Chesler also noted that the podcast tours are picking up popularity, and this new trend has been a resounding success on their stage. This spring, they are expected to host a variety of shows ranging from standup comedians to Broadway productions. “We are trying to program something for everyone in Lexington, Kentucky, whether you’re a college student or a lifelong Lexingtonian, “ Chesler emphasized.

Bigger Acts Return

With all these promising plans in place, Chesler announced with excitement the return of Drake to Rupp Arena after a 12-year hiatus. “There are 365 days in a year, and we work tirelessly to maximize our calendar. Nothing brings us greater joy than seeing everyone having a fantastic night,” Chesler said. Viewers interested in upcoming shows or purchasing tickets can visit the Opera House or Rupp Arena websites.

So whether it’s a heavyweight in the music industry like Drake, a high-profile comedian, or a Broadway production, the Lexington Opera House and Rupp Arena are dedicated to keeping Lexington fervent with diverse acts coming to their stages.

Spotlighting the Future of Performing Arts

The Lexington Opera House and the Rupp Arena have strategically positioned themselves as stewards of both traditional and modern performing arts. By boldly integrating comedy acts and podcast tours into their programming, they have turned Lexington into a market for these booming industries. As more venues embrace this model across the state, the future of performing arts in Kentucky looks promising.
