Lexington, Kentucky is gearing up for a vibrant weekend filled with festivities, live performances, and community events. From cultural celebrations to musical showcases, this weekend promises something for everyone.

The holiday season will officially kick off in Lexington on November 1 with the lighting of the Angel Tree, organized by CASA of Lexington. The ceremony will take place at the McBrayer Law Firm in downtown Lexington at 9:30 a.m.. Participants can select names from the tree to provide holiday gifts for abused and neglected children.

On the same day, the mysterious world of cryptids will be explored in a free talk titled “Bigfoot Adventures” at the Clark County Public Library from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Residents can also commemorate the Mexican holiday Dia De Los Muertos with a free event at the Gateway Regional Arts Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m..

Comedy fans can catch renowned comedian Akaash Singh at Comedy Off Broadway with shows scheduled at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on November 1 and additional performances on November 2 at 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Tickets are available for $30-$40.

The UK Men’s Soccer team will take on the Marshall Thundering Herd at The Bell at 7 p.m., while the UK Symphony Orchestra is set to perform Dvořák’s New World Symphony and Copland’s Appalachian Spring at the Singletary Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m.. Ticket prices range from $10 to $20.

Fans of musicals can witness the energy of TINA – The Tina Turner Musical at the Lexington Opera House with performances spread across the weekend, starting at 7:30 p.m. on November 1. Tickets for this much-anticipated show begin at $49.50.

On November 2, the Kentucky Book Festival will enliven Joseph-Beth Booksellers with nearly 150 authors and engaging talks, including discussions with prominent figures like Al Roker and chef Edward Lee from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.. The festival runs from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Families can partake in an under-the-sea celebration of The Little Mermaid at the Leeds Center for the Arts at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., while the Moondance Amphitheater will host a free Dia De Los Muertos festival featuring food trucks, live music, craft vendors, and more from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m..

Also on November 2, a leaders’ panel discussion at the Lexington Glow Ride will encourage community safety with activities and giveaways at Coolavin Park from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..

As the weekend wraps up, November 3 features performances like Dracula: The New World at The Spotlight Playhouse at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and an open house at the historic Lan Mark Farm, showcasing a unique fabric-making process, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m..
