Lexington, Kentucky Celebrates the Holiday Season with Festive Events This Weekend

Lexington, Kentucky is set to host a variety of holiday events this weekend, offering something for everyone to enjoy. From festive parades to charity events, the community will come together for a lively weekend filled with seasonal activities.

The annual Christmas parade will kick off on Saturday, December 7 at 11 a.m., taking over the streets of downtown Lexington. Featuring festive floats, marching bands, and the appearance of Santa Claus, this beloved local tradition promises a joyful atmosphere. Attendance is free, making it a perfect family outing.

For those looking to experience the magic of the season, the Kentucky Horse Park’s Southern Lights will be open to visitors nightly from 5:30 to 10 p.m. This dazzling lights display will be available for viewing through December 31. Tickets are priced at $35 per carload and can be purchased online.

On the philanthropic front, Delk Enterprises will host its second annual charity cocktail reception and poker tournament benefiting various local organizations on Friday, December 6 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Delk Exotics in Nicholasville. While admission is free, donations are encouraged to support the Lexington Dream Factory, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass, and others.

Comedy lovers can enjoy performances from Jon Reep, a contemporary country comedian, at Comedy Off Broadway on December 6 and 7. With shows scheduled at 7 and 9:30 p.m. on Friday and 6:30 and 9 p.m. on Saturday, ticket prices range from $23 to $27.

The Woodford Theatre in Versailles will stage the classic tale “The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe” throughout the weekend. Showtimes are set for December 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and December 8 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices range from $18 to $26.

On Saturday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Lexington Farmers Market will be held at Henry A. Tandy Centennial Park, providing an opportunity for residents to support local vendors and shop for fresh produce and goods.

Later that day, Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate will kick off its 9th annual “A Kentucky Christmas at Ashland” at noon, featuring a holiday market, musical performances, and candlelight tours starting at 7 p.m. Tickets for the tours are available for $12 to $18.

Other notable events include a holiday cookie decorating workshop at Shaker Village, a holiday drag and variety show at the Lyric Theatre, and a performance of “Cirque Dreams Holidaze” at Rupp Arena, all taking place on Sunday, December 8.

This weekend, Lexington promises a festive atmosphere with numerous events that cater to diverse interests. The community is encouraged to participate and celebrate the joy of the holiday season.
