Lexington, KY Unveils Exciting Lineup of Holiday Festivities for the Community

Lexington, KY is gearing up for a festive season filled with holiday activities aimed at bringing joy to the community. From brunches with ballet performances to Christmas markets, residents can enjoy a variety of events throughout November and December.

On November 10, the Kentucky Castle Greenhouse will host a Holiday Brunch featuring the cast of the Lexington Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. This intimate event includes performances, a meet-and-greet, and photo opportunities from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Following the brunch, the Kentucky Castle Holiday Market will take place on November 16-17. This festive gathering features local artisan vendors, holiday treats, and a hot cocoa bar, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

From November 21-24, the Lexington Theatre Company will present A Christmas Story at the Lexington Opera House. The adaptation of the classic film will span four days, with performances at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on weekends.

Next up, the Lexington Mercantile Co. MixMas Market on November 22-23 will showcase handmade items from local makers, alongside food and drink vendors, and set hours of 5-9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Shoppers can also look forward to the Holly Day Market on November 23-24, which will host over 80 vendors selling a wide array of holiday gifts, from jewelry to decorations. The market will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, accompanied by a preview party on November 22.

The festivities continue with the Southern Lights Holiday Festival, opening November 29 through December 31. This annual spectacle features a drive-through display of lights at the Kentucky Horse Park, plus activities including Santa visits and train rides, from 5:30-10 p.m. daily.

On December 1, the community is invited to the Luminate Lexington: Official Tree Lighting Ceremony in Triangle Park. From 3-7 p.m., guests can enjoy caroling, ice skating, and the lighting of Lexington’s Christmas tree.

The Lexington Children’s Theatre will present Elf the Musical Jr. on December 1 and 2, with performances highlighting Buddy the Elf’s whimsical journey. Shows will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

Additional holiday highlights include the Downtown Lexington Christmas Parade on December 7, the Lexington Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker on December 13-22, and the Collage: A Holiday Spectacular featuring performances by local choir groups over the same weekend.

With so many festivities on offer, Lexington is poised to celebrate the holidays with style and community spirit.
