Lexington – The Lexington Police Department is actively investigating a series of gas station robberies that occurred recently, involving suspects of varying ages. The authorities reported the first incident at a Speedway gas station located off South Broadway Road near Angliana Avenue around 4:30 PM. In this robbery, a man breached the station’s counter and stole cigarettes, while an employee attempted to intervene and sustained injuries but is expected to recover successfully. The suspect managed to flee the scene with only cigarettes and did not take any cash.

Following this incident, another robbery took place at the Speedway on Nicholasville Road just before 3:00 AM. In this occurrence, three unidentified suspects forced employees to hand over cash. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during this robbery. Police are currently engaged in both incidents and are encouraging anyone with information to reach out to them at (859) 258-3600. There is also an option for anonymous tips through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers by calling (859) 253-2020 or visiting their website.

As part of the ongoing investigations, police have arrested two juveniles in a separate case involving a robbery at a Jessamine County gas station on a recent Wednesday morning. The suspects, aged 15 and 17, approached a victim and brandished a gun, demanding cash before fleeing with an undetermined amount of money. Efforts to locate the suspects were bolstered through the use of the Real-Time Intelligence Center, license plate readers, and the Fusus platform. Officers successfully tracked the juveniles to a Marathon gas station located off Harrodsburg Road.

After their arrest, the juveniles faced multiple charges, including first-degree robbery, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree assault, receiving stolen property, and possession of a firearm by a minor. The police have confirmed that the investigation continues and that they are seeking further information from the community to help solve these cases.

The series of robberies points to a concerning trend regarding crime in the area, drawing attention from both law enforcement and community members. Recent incidents highlight the need for heightened awareness and vigilance among gas station employees and patrons. As police work diligently to address these robberies, they stress the importance of public cooperation in providing leads and tips that could assist in apprehending those responsible.

Lexington residents are reminded to report any suspicious activity and to assist the police in their efforts to maintain safety in the community. The department is encouraging citizens to stay informed about local crime and to take preventative measures while in public spaces.

As investigations develop, the Lexington Police Department remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of its residents, emphasizing collaborative efforts to reduce crime rates and enhance community trust in law enforcement.
