Lexington’s Week-long Fourth of July Festivities
As the calendar turns over to July, the city of Lexington gears up for its grand celebration of America’s Independence Day. The week-long festivities lined up by the city are set to kick off on Monday, leading up to the Fourth of July on Thursday.
Fun-Filled Week of Celebrations
The celebrations start on Monday with an ice cream social, a charming community event that encourages local Lexingtonians to come together at Tandy Park from 5:30 to 8 PM.
This will be followed by a spectacular musical event, “Big Band and Boom” on Tuesday, featuring local bands at the Moondance Amphitheatre from 7 to 8:30 PM.
The spirit of patriotism is set to shine on Wednesday with the “Patriotic Concert” scheduled from 5 to 9 PM at Transy University.
The Big Day
On Thursday, the city is looking forward to a jam-packed agenda as it commemorates the birth of American independence. Kicking off the day will be Lexington’s “BG10k” race on Main Street at 7:25 AM, followed by a fun run at the Courthouse Plaza at 8:30 AM.
A festival and market are slated from 10 AM to 3 PM, featuring local vendors and traditional attractions. Simultaneously, there will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Historic Courthouse at 10 AM.
The much-awaited Main St. Parade is set to begin at noon, featuring floats, bands, and local organizations showcasing their community spirit. As night falls, the sky will light up with the city’s fireworks display kicking off at 10 PM in downtown Lexington.
Closing the Celebrations
The week will draw to a close on Friday with the “Red, White, and Blues” event from 7 to 9 PM at the Moondance Amphitheater. This final celebration serves as a relaxing finale for the week’s intense festivities, offering an evening of blues music and community camaraderie.
The entire week’s celebrations are free and open to the public, inviting everyone to bask in the spirit of camaraderie, joy, and national pride that Independence Day brings to the city of Lexington.
