Lexington Prepares for Weeklong Independence Day Celebrations Featuring a Range of Fun-filled Activities

City of Lexington’s weeklong Fourth of July Activities to Spark Joy


LEXINGTON, Ky. – Independence Day range of activities throughout the week

Fourth of July, a day of monumental importance in the history of the United States, is upon us. It is a time for celebrations, fun, and patriotism, and Hardly any place does it better than the city of Lexington, Kentucky. This year, Lexington has planned not just one day but a whole week of activities to celebrate the nation’s birthday, starting from Monday.

Monday, July 1: Ice Cream Social at Tandy Park

Weeklong festivities commence on Monday with an enchanting Ice Cream Social event slated to be held at the Tandy Park from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. It is going to be an evening filled with luscious scoops of ice cream, embracing the Summer spirit under the tranquil city park canopy.

Tuesday, July 2: “Big Band and Boom” at the Moondance Amphitheatre

Heading into Tuesday, the event dubbed “Big Band and Boom” will reverberate jubilant melodies from 7 pm to 8:30 pm at the Moondance Amphitheatre. It will be a pleasant evening of music, dancing, and community.

Wednesday, July 3: “Patriotic Concert” at Transy University

Wednesday evening gets a sprinkle of patriotism with a “Patriotic Concert” slated to happen from 5 pm to 9 pm at Transy University. The spirit of America will resonate through music, bringing together people from all walks of life.

Thursday, July 4: A Day Packed with Activities

Independence Day Thursday is scheduled to be jam-packed with engaging activities starting early in the morning with the “BG10k” held on Main St. at 7:25 am, followed by a fun run at the Courthouse Plaza at 8:30 am. There will also be a festival and market, bringing local artisans, producers, and businesses into the limelight from 10 am to 3 pm.

One of the most poignant moments of the day will be the reading of the Declaration of Independence at 10 am at the Historic Courthouse. This will be followed by the much-anticipated Main St. Parade that begins at noon. As the day winds down, residents can enjoy a spectacular display of fireworks, beginning at 10 pm downtown, illuminating the night sky.

Friday, July 5: Ending the week with “Red, White and Blues”

The city concludes the week of festivities on Friday by setting the mood with “Red, White and Blues” from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Moondance Amphitheater. It will be a night of soulful music creating a communal atmosphere of togetherness, celebrating and reminiscing the joyous week.
