Lexington faced brief flooding on a section of North Broadway due to a potential water main break on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred near the intersection of Judy Lane, close to Interstate 64/I-75.
According to the Lexington Traffic Management Center, the flooding was reported early in the day, prompting alerts for drivers in the area. While flooding was evident, Lexington police Lt. Dillan Taylor confirmed that there was “no traffic impact” as the water began to dissipate quickly.
Susan Lancho, spokesperson for Kentucky American Water, indicated that crews are currently engaged in repairs on an 8-inch-diameter water main linked to the flooding situation. As the repairs progress, approximately 38 customers are temporarily without water service. The repair efforts are expected to take a few hours to complete.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution while navigating the affected area. The Lexington Traffic Management Center noted the situation as a “traffic hazard,” and appropriate personnel were dispatched to address the issue promptly.
As the community awaits the restoration of water service and the complete resolution of the flooding, officials continue to monitor the situation closely.
