Woman Arrested in Connection with Lexington Fatal Shooting
Cincinnati Woman Faces Murder Charges
A 48-year-old woman, identified as Shawnika Gill, was arrested in Hamilton County on Friday, following her connection with a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Lexington, according to the local police.
Gill’s capture was a joint collaboration between the U.S. Marshalls Service Central KY Fugitive Task Force, the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team, and the Hamilton County Sherriff’s Office. As it stands, the accused is currently held at the Hamilton County Justice Center and is formally charged with one count of murder.
Officials have indicated that Gill is pending extradition to Fayette County.
The Fatal Shooting Incident
Local police were summoned around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday to the 500 block of Newtown Pike in Lexington following reports of a shooting incident. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered a male victim suffering from gunshot injuries.
The victim was subsequently transferred to a nearby hospital where, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. Local authorities have yet to disclose the identity of the victim as investigations continue.
