Exciting Weekend Ahead in Lexington with Festivals, Sports, and Live Performances

Lexington, Kentucky is set to come alive this weekend with a variety of events catering to diverse interests, ranging from local festivals to live music and family activities.

This weekend’s highlight is the Festival Latino de Lexington, which will take place on September 28 from 3-10 p.m. at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza. Unfortunately, events scheduled for September 27 have been canceled due to adverse weather conditions brought on by Hurricane Helene. Attendees can look forward to a vibrant celebration of Latin American art and culture, concluding with a Health Fair at Masterson Station Park on September 29 from 1-5 p.m.

The UK Softball team will also be in action during their abbreviated fall season, hosting games against Georgetown College on September 27 at 6 p.m., Morehead State on September 28 at 1 p.m., and Lake Land College on September 29 at 12 p.m. All matches will be held at John Cropp Stadium and are free to attend.

Another anticipated event is the Anderson County Burgoo Festival, running from September 27-29 in downtown Lawrenceburg. Gate hours vary, with attendees invited to enjoy live music, a 5K run/walk, and, of course, plenty of burgoo, a traditional Kentucky stew.

For comedy lovers, the viral southern comedian Dusty Slay will perform at the Lexington Opera House on September 27 at 7 p.m., while Steven Ho, an ER technician turned comedian, will take the stage at Comedy Off Broadway later that evening at 9:30 p.m.

The UK Symphony Orchestra will also host a special concert on September 27 from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Singletary Center for the Arts, celebrating conductor John Nardolillo‘s 20 years of service, with performances featuring works by Sibelius and Schubert. Additionally, a tribute concert to country music legend Loretta Lynn led by Emily Portman is set for September 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Theatre in Frankfort.

Outdoor enthusiasts can partake in the Raven Run 10K trail run on September 29 at 8:30 a.m. at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary. The festival weekend will conclude with Wise Bird Cider hosting a silent disco on September 29 from 1-4 p.m., aimed at families.

This weekend promises a rich mix of activities for all ages and interests across Central Kentucky, making it an excellent opportunity to engage with the local community and enjoy the vibrant offerings of the season.
