Lexington – A tragic incident occurred on Lane Allen Road when 72-year-old Kennith Varney succumbed to injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle. The collision happened on the evening of November 17 at approximately 7:17 p.m.. Varney was subsequently transported to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he passed away from blunt trauma injuries on November 22, according to the Fayette County coroner’s office.
This incident marks the second fatality on Lane Allen Road within a week. On November 13, a bicyclist was hit by a vehicle in the same area, near Garden Springs Drive, and died the following day at the same hospital.
The Lexington Police Department is currently investigating both accidents. Details surrounding the circumstances leading to Varney’s collision remain unclear as authorities piece together evidence from the scene.
