Two Arrested in Kidnapping of Three Children in Lexington, Kentucky

Lexington, Ky. – Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of three children, according to local authorities. The incident was reported on October 7, when Lexington police were alerted about the children being taken by non-custodial family members who might have been attempting to leave the state.

Lexington police quickly identified the vehicle associated with the kidnapping. This identification was crucial, as it enabled law enforcement to act swiftly to ensure the safety of the children. Later that evening, officers from the Delaware State Police located the vehicle and successfully rescued the children without incident.

The suspects, identified as 29-year-old Ashley Brown and 50-year-old Kolene Shahan, were apprehended at the scene and now face serious charges, including three counts of kidnapping. Authorities have not disclosed the specific relationship of the suspects to the children or the circumstances that led to the kidnapping.

This situation has raised significant concern among community members about child safety and the complexities surrounding custody issues within families. As the investigation continues, local officials are working to provide support for the children who were involved in this alarming event.

Law enforcement officials emphasize the importance of community vigilance in preventing such incidents. They encourage anyone who suspects a child may be in danger to contact authorities immediately.

This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
