Weekend Sports and Community Events Shine in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. – This weekend offers a vibrant mix of community events and sporting excitement for residents and visitors alike.

The Kentucky Wildcats are set to face off against the Vanderbilt Commodores in a much-anticipated college football showdown at Kroger Field. Both teams enter the game with a record of 3-2 this season, following Vanderbilt’s surprising victory over Alabama. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:45 PM on Saturday, and attendees can also watch the action on the SEC network if they can’t make it to the stadium.

As the excitement of football unfolds, dog lovers can bring their pets to the annual Bark Bash, an event tailored for canine companions and their owners. Held on Sunday at noon at the Moondance Amphitheater, the Bark Bash supports the Lexington Humane Society with a variety of activities including live music, bingo, trivia, and vendor booths. Dog owners are encouraged to dress their pups in costume for a chance to win a $150 prize in the costume contest; entry costs $20. While admission to the event is free, donations are appreciated, with proceeds going directly to help animals awaiting adoption.

Simultaneously, the Bluegrass Autism Walk will take place on Sunday at 207 Legends Lane. Aimed at supporting individuals with autism, their caregivers, and families, this event features a silent auction, food, and children’s activities. The walk kicks off at 3:15 PM, preceded by activities starting at 2 PM. Tickets are priced at $20 for adults and $10 for kids, with all funds raised contributing to educational and advocacy efforts.

This weekend’s events promise to cater to diverse audiences, combining sports, community service, and family-friendly activities to foster local engagement and support.
